Variety is reporting that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie has had the best ever opening for the Potter franchise.
It is reported that it grossed over $100 million internationally, with $58.2 million being gained domestically and $45.9 million elsewhere.
Domestic theater count for "Half-Blood Prince" is 4,275 heading into the weekend. Pic's debut was slightly more staggered overseas. On Wednesday, the film opened on 10,500 screens in 33 markets. It moved into more territories on Thursday, and this weekend, it will be playing on roughly 15,000 screens in 64 markets.
In the United Kingdom, the movie had the third ever best opening day with $7.6 million being gained from over 1,305 screens.
"With many countries yet to open, these already outstanding box office numbers are another testament to the universal appeal of J.K. Rowling's stories and the work of everyone behind the 'Harry Potter' films," said Warners prexy of intl. distribution Veronika Kwan-Rubinek.
