Special Features

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Ultimate Edition comes packaged in the same impressive looking case as Sorcerer’s Stone, which closes magnetically.  Inside is a fold out case, with the four discs featuring the theatrical version of the movie on Disc 1, the extended version on Disc 2 and the special features on Disc 3 & 4.  There is also an envelope containing a digital copy version of the film on disc and two character cards – for Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) and Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane).

There is also a 48-page hardcover book, Creating the Characters of Harry Potter, showcasing many pictures of early production sketches of the characters with photos of them in the films.  Also included are comparison photos of characters who've been in the entire series, showing how they've looked and changed in each movie.  There are also photos from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, too!

The special features on Disc 3 include older interviews with the cast, as well as author J.K. Rowling and screenwriter Steve Kloves.  There are also several games, deleted scenes.  In addition to the trailers and commercials, Disc 4 also features a 2002 HBO making of special for Chamber of Secrets.

The main highlight of Disc 4 is part two of what the eventual eight-part documentary series, Creating the World of Harry Potter, that will be included throughout all of the Ultimate Edition versions of the Harry Potter film series.  Part two focuses on the Characters of the film.

This full-length documentary, which runs around eighty minutes, features Harry Potter characters and the actors that bring them to life on screen.  Included are many new interviews with the cast and directors of the films.  Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) also read bits from the books about their respective characters.   This amazing documentary has even more fun parts which feature Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and a young Emma Watson trying to deny that she’s at all bookish like Hermione, even though the older Emma knows she’s exactly like Hermione in that respect!  We also get our first look at Rhys Ifans, who will play Luna’s father, Xenophilius Lovegood, on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The screen tests of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are cute because we get to watch them as very young actors in their first major movie.  We also see Daniel perform from Prisoner of Azkaban, which seems to imply that he was already then being considered to continue in his role as Harry Potter in the third installment.
