Deathly Hallows scenes shot in Lavenham - Updated

The Suffolk Free Press reports that scenes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were filmed in Lavenham nearly two months ago.

The scenes of Lavenham will be made to look like Godric's Hollow for the film.

Although none of the cast was present for the filming, the characters of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger will be added through computer wizardry – meaning film fans will actually see the Warner Bros blockbuster's main protagonists appearing in Lavenham's streets.

Jane Gosling, manager of the National Trust-run Lavenham Guildhall, spoke to the Free Press about the film crew's visit in January.

She said: "It was all very exciting. What the film-makers are going to do is turn parts of Lavenham into Godric's Hollow (a village featured in the book and film series) and the Guildhall will be Harry Potter's parents' house.

Updated:Â Photos of the Potter's house in Godric's Hollow can be seen in our galleries here.

Update 2:Â More information on the filming let's us know:

“The film crew were planning to fly in a squadron of helicopters over the village to dump fake snow across the Market Place. In the end they didn't need to, the village was already covered in snow, which is quite ironic really.

“The crew visited several times last year and only myself and the parish council knew and we had to swear to secrecy. I was given a sneak preview of the Lavenham scenes and I have to say it is beautiful and really fascinating to see.”

"They took still frames of the front doors in the village which will appear as picture frames in the movie that open to reveal further magical scenes inside.”
