I arrived at the Shinjuku Station in Tokyo around 8:15AM and ended up
getting to the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater at around 8:30. At the entrance
of the theater, there was a Warner Brother's staff member waiting for me as
well as representatives from other websites. Once everyone was gathered, we
were escorted to the screening room. On the way, I saw many people dressed
in Harry Potter costumes anxiously waiting to get inside. Since we were
shown to our seats before the actual seating, we were able to see the MC and
staff practice their routine.
At 9AM seating for the event started. The first guests that were seated were
in Harry Potter costumes as you can see in the picture of the event. Most of
the people in costume were young ladies although there were a man and a
couple of boys dressed up. Almost everyone was dressed up in the Hogwarts
school uniform with the robe. Some of the girls were wearing wigs (or dyed
their hair?) to match their character's hair color. The guests in costume
filled up the first few rows while the remaining guests not in costumes were
seated above them.
The event started at 9:30AM with the MC thanking us for coming and telling
us that there were only 100 days left until the latest Harry Potter movie
will be released. We were then shown clips of the previous Harry Potter
movies in sequential order to build up hype for the preview of the latest
Harry Potter which was shown at the end. The preview of the latest Harry
Potter was the worldwide trailer and did not contain any new footage.
After the previews, we were shown recorded messages from Daniel Radcliffe,
Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Each of them said hello in Japanese and
thanked the fans. They talked about when the latest two parts of Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released as well how much they
enjoyed making the Harry Potter films for the last 10 years.
To finish everything up, we were shown three behind the scene footage of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Unfortunately these scenes were
nothing new and could be found on the internet. They were named "The Story,"
"Forest Run," and "On the Run."
Once all the footage was shown, there was a raffle for all the guests that
were at the event. The prizes that were given out were five sets of the
current six Harry Potter movies on DVD, one bag filled with Harry Potter
goodies, and five pair of tickets to a screening on opening night. The final
"prize" was that one of the guests was selected to push a button that
started a countdown timer which was built into a decorated Harry Potter
sign. The person who was picked was a young lady dressed up as Harry Potter.
She had short hair and was wearing glasses and in my opinion looked quite
like Harry Potter.
At the end of the event, all the guests stood up and we were all video taped
saying "Final!" after the MC said "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part
1." I can see this thing being played millions of times on TV commercials
promoting the final Harry Potter.
