Wand secrets:

• Each wand in the Harry Potter film series was developed with its fictional owner in mind. Professor Dumbledore’s wand was created before it was revealed in the books to be the Elder Wand (in fact, before anyone know that the Elder Wand even existed!). Fortunately, the wand the designers created happened to be unique among all the film series’ wands, bearing unusual carvings and ridged details.

• Some of the cast had their own ideas about how their characters’ wand should look. Actor Ralph Fiennes said he wanted Voldemort’s wand to look like an evil finger pointing off into the distance; this influence can be seen in the wand he used on screen, which appears to be made of bone.

• Over the course of the film series the Prop Team created thousands of wands. Rumour has it they never lost a single one — though Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter, wore out over 60 wands during the making of the film series.

• Hermione Granger is the first Hogwarts student to use her wand in theHarry Potter film series, when she repairs Harry’s glasses on the Hogwarts Express using the charm Oculus Reparo.
