Sneak Peek at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood

Los Angeles, start keeping a lookout for your owls because your Hogwarts acceptance letter is about to arrive! I had the wonderful opportunity to get a sneak peek into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood and, come April 7, you’re in for a treat.

Hogsmeade LA entrance

Sadly we weren’t able take any photos because our cameras wouldn’t work - wizardry and muggle tech don’t play well together. But why spoil the fun of experiencing every step of Hogsmeade for yourself? The minute you step foot into this section of the park, you’re no longer in Los Angeles, you’re in Hogsmeade!

The amount of detail they put into this place is incredible. Alan Gilmore, our tour guide and yes the ART DIRECTOR OF THE HARRY POTTER FILMS, was kind enough to walk us through the entirety of Hogsmeade and takes pride in the fact that every little nook and cranny has been imbued with the spirit of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. When I mean detail, I’m not kidding. Even the moving paintings have the texture of paint, making you feel as if you are literally staring at magical paintings rather than screens. Also, be sure to take note as you walk through Hogsmeade, that the displays you are looking at may actually contain props from the films themselves! I won’t tell you which displays because finding out is part of the fun itself.

After knocking back a healthy portion of Butterbeer and enjoying a morning of a fun-filled park preview of Hogsmeade, I have to say that I’m quite excited to return back soonand get my own wand at Ollivanders, drink some more Butterbeer, kick back some Firewhisky and fully immerse myself into the world of Harry Potter without leaving the wonderful backyard of Los Angeles.

Are your wands at the ready yet?
